Description:

Mashup is a revolution in quality icons derived from various sources, like a mix tape. The collection is aesthetic and designed to be professional, functional, balanced, and diverse. Its the first icon set to have built in use of the theme menu for custom usage. Just choose the Mashup 1-5 set you want to use. Includes a mix of my custom icons & code, Aero, Oxygen, Glass, and Crystal icons.

Features:
* Five distinct available folder variations and customisations.
* Change your theme with the Appearance Menu.
* Contains Gnomes full range of Apps & Actions.
* Up to date with cutting edge icons.
* Compatible with Gnome 2.0 releases.

License: Creative Commons No Derivatives - Free to use and copy unmodified, may not modify or redistribute any portion therein. Any pictures or photography are not to be used. The name Mashup is registered ® to Billy Butler 2009.

Changelog:

Mashup Five contains a build script to create 5 different icon themes, including new folders, firefox, vlc, evolution and more. Take a look at the how-to-build.jpg. Basic build run "./mashupfive.sh build" in your terminal. The script can only be run after install and in your default user icons directory (~/.icons/ or /home/$user/.icons).

TIPS:
1. Remove the old Mashup before any upgrade.
2. Install and run mashupfive script.
3. Switch from Mashup to Mashup 1-5 with the Appearance Prefs > Customize Theme menu.
4. Run Killall gnome-panel to restart panels.
5. "sudo ln -sf ~/.icons/Mashup* /usr/share/icons/" for ROOT usage.

GNOME FOLDER BUG: The way I fix this is ALT+F2 type in "gksu nautilus" (your password) go to /usr/share/icons hit CTRL+F, type "inode" Select all with mouse then hold down "SHIFT" and press "DELETE". If your updates install the Human or Gnome-Icon-Theme you have to repeat this step to get drag and drop back and bookmark places back.

Many updated & new icons: Five folder sets, five folder places, appointments, printers, warning, open-office apps, drives, sound & video, dvd, cdrom, rpm, network status, modem, tasks, gparted, liferea, workgroup, alarms, indexed, podcast, glchess, file-manger, µTorrent, python, software update, f-spot, gnome-do, screen lock, image-loading, alarm, rss feed, camera, abiword, office presentation, wine, screenshooter, rar, pda, transmission, edit-cut, phone, zip, scripts, dillo, ipod, open-office & abiword docs, home folder, safari, call start & stop, floppy drive, weather alerts, twitter, alsa-mixer, battery status, firefox, wifi-signals, nautilus, musicbrainz, system monitor, notify-osd, system-run, and network-wired.

I don't know why the votes haven't gone up for this. These are very good icons, and I enjoy having them on my desktop.

Thank you. I have put in a good half year making sure this is a great set. Its still a fairly new theme so I guess it just needs some attention and word of mouth. You can also become a fan :)

If you right click on your desktop and can access themes from there you can drag and drop the tar.bz2 file and it should install. The other way is copy to /usr/share/icons/ folder or home/user/.icons/ folders and then choosing from your theme control such as system > preferences > appearance.

For this icon set. Three things

1. Become a fan. Up top is the link, helps this gain exposure.

2. Give constructive ideas, I add new icons all the time, and sometimes I get dry and need inspiration.

3. Help me reach 1400+ downloads and it will be the most popular icon set on this site around.

Thanks
Billy

 little problem...

Finally I've found a nice icons set...it's perfect, but I have a little problem: when I try to customise the icons (choosing, for example, the home and the folder logo) using the script "morph.sh", the changes does not take effect...is there a solution?

Excuse me for my imperfect english...

The icon cache in Gnome can hold back old icons. You can temporarily switch icon themes, log off, or killall gnome-panel works in run or terminal. If you want to have a visual confirmation of the changes just monitor the folder its in, IE Mashup/apps. There you can see the icons changed when you run the script. May require a refresh too. Any other questions let me know :)

I've already tried to do what you have said, but I've found the solution doing something different...I opened the folder with the files of this theme (/home/USER/.icons/Mashup) and I've deleted the file "icon-theme.cache"; I've changed temporarily the current icon theme for re-activate the Mashup theme and all problems were solved!

However thanks for your helping, now I can enjoy at 100% this nice theme ;)

On Mint 6 I cannot right click desktop to access themes.

There is nothing in .icons folder (apart from mashup, now). Could not find icons-theme.cache, (even though file browser search returns several instances somewhere and I show hidden files).

All the original Mint icons appear to be in usr/share/pixmaps.

Desktop icons are readily changed one by one, (sorry, do not follow the morph.sh instruction) but the taskbar icons are somehow linked to the pixmaps. Changing directories (to, say, .icons/mashup) returns blank folder.

I am a fan. Thanks, your icons are beautiful. We loved the movie Aimelie (sp?) and I would love to use that icon on my girlfriend's evolution link (she is Ubuntu, I guess it will work).

So, all in all, you have a slow learner at this end. I've been with Linux for 2 or 3 years but this old dog is not learning his tricks too well.

cheers, sherbert

script tips:

in terminal do
cd .icons/Mashup <enter>
./morph.sh "icon name" example firefox2 <enter>
killall nautilus
killall gnome-panel

results should take effect instantly.

BTW the new 4.1 release has a clearer script help file called customise-it.jpg. If you have further ?s please email or post.

Thanks
Billy

Appearance should be in your Menu > System > Preferences > Appearance Icon.
